Maleah Durand, born in Iowa under the Safe Haven law and named Sara Haven, was surrendered by her birth mother at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center and later adopted by Ed and Patty Durand. She expresses gratitude toward her birth mother and encourages other mothers facing similar decisions to know that their children can be loved and cared for through Safe Haven options, which in Iowa include hospitals, fire stations, and Safe Haven Baby Boxes at four locations statewide.
